Shelly Strickler is a multi-award winning broadcast journalist who worked for more than 30 years as an anchor/reporter.
She accumulated more than 50 awards during her 25 plus years at the famed WOR Radio in New York City. Earlier Shelly worked at WCTC in New Brunswick, New Jersey and at WGNY in Newburgh, New York.
Her awards included several from the prestigious New York Press Club, Associated Press and Women in Radio and TV. She recently was honored with the Press Club's President's Award. Shelly and her husband, Larry, were jointly awarded in 2017 with the Brooklyn College Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award
She is an active member in the Press Club where she now serves as an awards judge.
Her professional affiliations include 36 years with the Inner Circle Show, a New York City reporter's organization that produces a major annual political musical satire at which the Mayor of the city performs a rebuttal show. Shelly has been the director of the show for the past 12 years. She also continues to perform in and help write the script and lyrics.
Now retired, Shelly presents multi-media lectures which enlighten and entertain audiences on various aspects of the media. Among her topics, "The Media Revolution: From Teletype to Twitter," and "The Naughty Boys of Politics: Media Coverage of Sexual Escapades from Hamilton to Weiner."
Shelly lives in Brooklyn, NY and Boynton Beach, Florida with her husband Larry, an accomplished educator/entertainer/lecturer. She has three daughters and nine grandchildren.
